Make no mistake, the Nikon D3000 was a seriously good entry-level camera, fully justifying its position as Europe's top-selling DSLR for the first half of this all good things come to an end and, more recently, the D3000 was showing its age with a complete lack of Live View, video capture facilities and a comparatively low-res CCD D3100 is a radical upgrade, based on a brand-new CMOS sensor that, in resolution terms, outstrips most of Nikon's current semi-pro and fully professional cameras, including the D300s, D700 and Nikon D3100 has a smarter brain than its predecessor, in the shape of a revamped EXPEED 2 image processor, which promises enhanced image quality and a greater sensitivity range. Indeed, while the D3000 offered ISO 100-1600 in its standard range, the Nikon D3100 boosts this to ISO 100-3200, with two extended modes that raise the bar to ISO 6400 and 12800 new features include Live View, which comes complete with a Scene Auto Selector function that automatically selects the optimum picture mode for the subject being photographed, as well as offering normal-area, wide-area, face-priority and continuous subject-tracking autofocus. More impressively, continuous autofocus is also available in movie capture mode, the D3100 boasting full 1080p high-def at 24fps and 720p at 24,25 or can also apply basic in-camera edits to movie clips, for example cutting scenes or saving individual frames as still back to the main job of shooting stills, there's a veritable feast of in-camera retouching features, including after-shot D-Lighting adjustments for controlling dynamic range, red-eye reduction, trimming, straightening, distortion correction also available while shooting, perspective control, colour balance and a range of filter at the shooting stage, the Nikon D3100 also inherits chromatic aberration correction from other recent Nikon cameras, which is highly effective at flattering the performance of lenses where colour fringing is often a problem, like with the Nikon 18-200mm VR. The Bottom Line A very good entry-level dSLR, the Nikon D3100 delivers excellent photo quality in a body that's streamlined for experienced photographers, but relatively unintimidating for the less advanced. Its only weakness is performance; though solid, it nevertheless lags behind the competition. Until I sat down to actually write this review, it hadn't struck me how confusing the market placement of the Nikon D3100 is. It's priced the same as the still-available D5000, which is in many ways a better camera. And with the exception of video, which many users don't care about anyway, it's very similar to the much cheaper D3000. So while the D3100 isn't a bad camera, and for the most part holds its own against competitors from other manufacturers, it still pales in comparison with its own line mates. The D3100 has a very good noise profile; it matches and perhaps bests the current leader in the budget dSLR category, the Pentax K-x. It produces exceptionally clean JPEGs up through ISO 800 and very usable ones through ISO 3200. Adobe Camera Raw doesn't yet support the D3100 and Nikon Capture NX 2 doesn't provide sufficiently granular enough noise reduction for me to do raw versus JPEG comparisons. The camera delivers excellent color reproduction in its default SD mode as well-a nice change from some overly saturation-pushing competitors like Pentax and Sony-and its metering and exposure system work reliably and well. Sharpness is, of course, lens dependent, but I was pretty happy with the various models I tested; generally, shots looked sharp but not oversharpened. In addition to the always reliable 18-55mm VR kit lens, I shot with the new pro-level 28-300mm ED VR and consumer 55-300mm ED VR, as well as the older 35mm lens. In many ways I think the 28-300mm is a great lens optically, but I didn't like the feel of the zoom ring-it's feels inconsistent and a little too tight-and it's too heavy for a light body like the D3100's. The 55-300mm is obviously a better fit for the body, but it is slower, not quite as sharp, and more prone to fringing; that said, many will find it satisfactory for the money, and good a choice as a second lens. Similarly, for a relatively cheap lens, the 35mm fares pretty well overall. There's a little bit of asymmetrical distortion on the right, however, as well as some fringing along backlit edges. But once again, it's a great lens value. Video quality looks typical for its class, but with seemingly more rolling shutter artifacts than usual and note that the lens VR makes a huge difference when shooting video. The audio isn't bad, but the full-time AF is not only loud, but pretty bad at locking on the appropriate subject. However, the camera does offer full manual exposure controls during movie capture. A 30-second countdown-to-shutoff timer appears in the upper left side of the display while the camera is idle in Live View/movie mode-an interesting touch. Though the camera's performance is perfectly fine, it is a bit slower than the D3000 overall and not quite as fast as its competitors. It powers on and shoots in about second and can focus and shoot in good light in the same second. In dim light, that rises to a still-good second, which is better than its predecessor. JPEG shot-to-shot time is about second, which increases to second for raw; that's slower than the D3000 and the rest of the pack. With flash, it's about second. The D3100 also has the slowest burst performance of the group, at in practice, it really did feel a hair too slow to photograph randomly moving subjects, like squirrels and birds. It might be fine for photographing the kids, though. It has essentially the same viewfinder as the D3000, although it now uses the tiny AF points I hate; Nikon claims they were requested by users, though. The viewfinder itself is on the small, low-magnification side, but isn't too bad. You can view the LCD pretty well in direct sunlight. It's quite a comfortable camera to shoot with, though it feels a little plasticky. Though the location of some controls has changed, it has the same overall operation. A programmable Fn button-you can set it to control the image quality, ISO sensitivity, white balance, or Active D-Lighting menus-lies under your left thumb, though it's a little hard to differentiate from the flash pop-up/compensation button that sits above it by feel alone. Behind the shutter button circumscribed by the power switch are the exposure compensation and info buttons; the latter toggles the back display. As usual, the top mode dial is segregated into the scene, PASM Program, Aperture- and Shutter-priority, and Manual, and full auto modes. Nikon adds a twist here, a Guide mode that provides various levels of step-by-step help for a limited number of common shooting scenarios. There's Easy operation, which, like Auto, provides access to a limited number of options, as well as an Advanced mode, which describes the appropriate settings for the chosen scenario and then allows you to change the settings yourself. For instance, in Easy Operation/Distant Subjects it puts you into the Sports scene mode-the camera tells you what it's doing, which is really nice-then optionally allows you to adjust flash, release mode, and ISO sensitivity. The options are not specific to the scenarios, however, which would be useful. My one minor quibble with this is that the controls don't always function the same in this mode as when shooting normally; so, for example, here you'd adjust shutter speed with the up/down buttons on the multiselector, whereas you'd normally use the command dial to change the speed. This might confuse some people. The four-way navigation switch feels a little more responsive than the D3000's. Nikon moved the drive mode controls-single, burst, self-timer and Quiet-to a switch next to the mode dial, a location I prefer to burying it in the menus or in the interactive display. I also like Nikon's implementation of the interactive display. The adjustment options are arrayed around the edges of the display, which makes the one you're looking for easier to find compared with some of the more cluttered full-screen layouts of competitors. On the other hand, you do have to navigate sequentially through the options, which you don't have to do with control panels that allow you to move up, down, and sideways. In addition to a composite, a HDMI out, and a USB connector, the D3100 has a connector for Nikon's proprietary GPS module. But there are a lot of more useful shooting features still missing that other cameras in this price class provide, including wireless flash control. Most egregiously, though, the D3100 lacks simple exposure and flash exposure bracketing. Nikon seems to concentrate on in-camera postprocessing for the bulk of its features instead. Though the D5000 is expected to remain in the channel for a while, obviously there's significant overlap between the D3100 and the D5000 at similar prices, with only a few things to distinguish between them the D5000 offers the articulated LCD, better viewfinder, better performance and a more well-rounded feature set bracketing!, while the D3100 provides a slightly larger LCD, higher resolution which you probably don't need, and better movie capture features. They're about tied on photo quality. So ultimately, unless you're into video, the D5000 is probably the better buy at the same price; if you are into video, the D3100 probably isn't the camera for you, anyway. That leaves the Nikon D3100 as a very nice dSLR, but one that isn't a very compelling buy as long as the D5000 is still around at a decent price. Nikon D3100 banyak memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan dibanding pendahulunya D3000. Meskipun di cap sebagai DSLR untuk pemula nyatanya kamera dapat memberi pengalaman yang berbeda kepada penggunannya di bidang fotografi. Kualitas gambar yang dihasilkan D3100 tidak kalah bagusnya, bahkan mendekati kamera yang khusus bagi para fotografer profesional. Dengan ISO yang tinggi, maka Anda tidak perlu repot jika harus mengambil gambar pada situasi gelap yang minim cahaya. D3100 juga didukung dengan prosesor Expeed dari generasi yang kedua. Ini adalah prosesor mesin pengolahan gambar yang merupakan inovasi terbaru dari Nikon. Berkat prosesor Expeed generasi kedua ini, tentunya gambar yang dihasilkan akan sangat kaya warna serta pengaturan warnanya lebih dinamis, dan ditambah kecepatan shutter speed, Pengaturan kontras, dan ketajaman pencahayaan akan menjadi lebih mudah. Fitur lain D3100 yang telah disematkan adalah Active-D Lighting, yang nantinya memudahkan Anda saat pengambilan gambar dalam kondisi minim cahaya maupun pada tempat terdapat banyak bayangan. Untuk kekurangannya, Nikon D3100 tak tersedia fitur DOF preview serta dianggap tidak kompatibel dengan lensa lama yang belum didukung AFS. Lensalensa Sigma dan Tamron untuk Nikon bisa dimanfaatkan dan sebagian besar bisa autofokus. Kelebihan Nikon D3500 dibandingkan dengan kamera DSLR lain adalah beratnya yang sangat ringan, hanya 365 gram, bahkan sedikit lebih ringan daripada kamera mirrorless mungil seperti Sony A6300 (404 g) dan Fuji X-T20 (385 g). Tapi ukurannya jelas lebih besar karena adanya cermin dalam kamera dan pegangan yang cukup dalam dan mantap saat memasang lensa telefoto/panjang.

Ada baiknya membaca ini Kamera DSLR Pemula Terbaik di tahun 2014 Nikon D3100 resmi diumumkan pada Agustus, 2010. Kamera DSLR ini adalah jawaban dari Nikon untuk mengisi kelas entry level DSLR setelah sebelumnya diisi dengan pendahulunya, D3000. Banyak pembaharuan radikal yang diberikan pada body D3100 ini. Mulai dari sensor yang berubah menjadi 14 MP, LCD yang bisa digunakan saat melihat objek ataupun merekam video live view LCD bahkan hingga kemampuan merekam video berformat HD 1080p dengan maksimal 24 frame dalam tiap detiknya. Lalu fitur apalagi yang Nikon upgrade dalam d3100 ini…? Berikut ulasannya. Body & Desain Dari segi ukuran tingginya hanya cm dengan lebar serta tebalnya mencapai merupakan DSLR paling kecil di segmen pemula yang Nikon buat, bahkan lebih kecil daripada saingannya, Canon 1100D. Jika 1100D dibuat dengan body plastik yang glossy licin terkesan lebih murah, Nikon D3100 memilki body yang solid & tekstur pada body yang lebih enak untuk digenggam meskipun tangan kita besar, tidak licin. Terlebih disediakan semacam karet dibagian jempol, jadi saat kita memegang kamera jempol kita tidak licin menahan beban kamera. Dibagian atas body terdapat dialer exposure & tuas drive mode. Dialer exposure yang tersedia ialah full auto, advanced mode [P] , [S] , [A] & [M] , guide mode, serta auto exposure mode babby, sport, macro, potrait, landscape, night. Sedangkan tuas drive mode dapat membuat kita memilih mode pemotretan. Apakah single shot S, continuous shot 3 gambar per detik, self timer atau Quiet Shutter suara saat shoot foto lebih pelan. Di bagian belakang juga terpampang LCD 3″ serta tombol-tombol yang susunannya mirip Nikon D5000 serta tombol navigasi 4 arah untu mempermudah pengoperasian. Untuk mengaktifkan mode live view ada tuas live view plus tombol video mode mirip D7000. Sedangkan dibagian samping terdapat port yang ditutupi oleh karet penutup. Port yang disediakan ialah GPS unit, HDMI, USB dan AV. LCD LCD berukuran dengan jenis TFT dirasa sudah cukup untuk memenuhi kebutuhan. LCD ini digunakan untuk menampilkan gambar, menyusun setingan kamera, mengaktifkan mode livew hingga membuat video pun menggunakan LCD ini. Tak hanya itu di layar ini disediakan guide mode yang ditujukan untuk pemula yang masih belajar fotografi. Kamera DSLR ini sangat cocok buat Anda yang masih pemula. Fitur & Performa Dalam body-nya, D3100 tidak memiliki built in motor foucs. Alhasil kamera ini hanya cocok untuk lensa yang memiliki focus pada mesin lensanya, misalnya lensa jenis AF-S. Lensa Nikon jenis AF-D masih bisa digunakan, namun tentunya fitur autofocus tidak bisa berfungsi. ISO maksimal yang bisa digunakan adalah 1600 yang dapat dipacu menjadi 3200. Fitur auto ISO khas Nikon juga disedaiakan. Fitur ini sangat membantu untuk menentukan ISO secara otomatis & kita bisa menset ulang berapa shutter speed & ISO minimal yang dapat digunakan. meskipun berukuran kecil namun tetap nyaman saat digenggam Untuk urusan fokus disediakan 11 titik fokus yang tersebar di sensor kamera yang bisa kita pilih secara otomatis ataupun manual. Adanya fitur 3d tracking membuat kamera dapat mengunci fokus suatu objek meskipun ia berpindah-pindah. Saat kita menggunakan fitur live view, di LCD akan terpampang fitur pendeteksi wajah. Wajah akan diberi kotak kuning jika terdeteksi. Namun sayangnya tidak disediakan fitur bracketing dalam kamera ini. Fitur ini memungkinkan kita mengambil lebih dari satu foto namun dengan pengaturan eksposur yang berbeda-beda. Selain itu kamera ini juga hanya sanggup mengambil gambar 3fps atau 3 gambar secara continues selama tiap detiknya. Menariknya seperti halnya kamera yang Nikon buat disediakan fitur in camera editing. Jadi, tidak melulu menggunakan komputer untuk mengedit bukan ? Video microphone pada bagian depan, berfungsi untuk merekam suara saat mode video Kamera ini dibekali fitur perekam video setara 1080p. Kemampuan rekamnya tergolong sangat baik & bisa diseting menjadi 1920 x 1080p 24 fps dan 1280 x 720p 30 fps/24 fps. Hal yang perlu diacungi jempol adalah fitur auto fokus yang tetap berfungsi di mode video walaupun objek yang terekam berpindah-pindah. Kamera ini tercatat sebagai DSLR pertama di dunia yang memiliki fitur ini. Tapi diperlukan lensa dengan suara motor yang halus untuk melakukan fitur ini, karena jika lensa memiliki pergerakan motor yang berisik, suara pergerakan lensa akan terekam juga saat mengambil video. Perlu diingat kalau kamera ini hanya mampu merekam video selama 10 menit setelah itu kita harus merekam kembali selama 10 menit juga tentunya, begitu berulang-ulang. Contoh foto Nikon d3100 menggunakan lensa Kit 18-55mm f/ 1/1000s ISO 400 No Flash 18mm Saat kondisi cahaya cukup foto yang dihasilkan dengan aperture f/ sudah tajam. Tonal warna yang dihasilkan seperti halnya kamera Nikon yang lain, sudah sangat bagus. Kontras & warna foto juga lebih vivid ketimbang DSLR Canon pemula. f/ 1/3s ISO 3200 No Flash 18mm Saat menggunakan ISO tinggi, dipacu hingga 3200 noise yang muncul cukup mengganggu, namun Anda masih bisa menggunakan flash jika ingin menggunakan ISO yang rendah. Foto diatas diambil tanpa menggunakan flash. Berikut ini adalah tabel spesifikasi Nikon D3100 Kesimpulan Kamera ini tergolong kamera yang mudah digunakan untuk pemula. Body ergonomis, ringan & enak digenggam menjadi salah satu pertimbangan. Terlebih build quality-nya juga bagus & bertekstur sehingga tidak licin saat digunakan. Dengan sensor 14MP hasil yang ditawarkan juga ukup menjanjikan. Fitur video dalam kamera ini juga “lebih dari cukup” untuk merekam video sehari-hari meskipun durasinya maksimalnya hanya 10 menit per video. Lensa kit 18-55mm yang disediakan dalam paket penjualan juga tidak bisa “diremehkan” kualitasnya. Yang menjadi batu sandungan adalah Nikon tidak menyediakan motor di dalam body kamera ini sehingga penggunaan lensa hanya terbatas pada seri AF-S. Selain itu burst foto hanya 3fps & tidak memiliki fitur bracketing. Kamera ini sangat direkomendasikan untuk pemula mengingat kinerjanya yang baik namun dengan harga yang relatif murah.
